Sleep is one of the vital and physiological needs of the human being, such as food, drink and air, and its loss or any imbalance in its function leads to great damage to physical and mental health, cognition and psychological health, which ultimately affects the general health of the crew members as well as their performance of the task. Therefore, appropriate conditions must be provided for them or The best solution for them to ensure their safety

This challenge is represented by what the astronauts reported that during their flights they do not have a good sleep, or the equivalent of the Earth’s inhabitants, from enough sleep for 7 hours, but what NASA monitored is that the crew members of the space flights slept an average of 6 hours per day, in addition to that most of them slept less From that 5 hours, and sometimes to two hours, and the reason for this is due to:
Work overload, circadian clock disruption, sleep loss which is also secondary to radiation, noise, temperature, lighting, pressure, and sleeping space

The solution to this challenge is to improve the sleeping environment, and this is what NASA has directed at the International Space Station (ISS), which is to create a good environment in the space cabin to ensure sleep quality and thus meet the performance and health needs of the crew. The International Space Station (ISS) has improved the habitability of the space. Ambient temperatures, wind speed, noise, and carbon dioxide levels as well as comfortable sleeping bags and buoyancy restrictions and special sleeping places to reduce them. This process is developed in a continuous and clear form to ensure that the crew gets their sleep needs, as NASA recommended astronauts to sleep from 6-8 hours a day after the work period, and that there is sufficient time to rest and recuperate from the pressure of work. Among the measures that also help in solving this challenge are They took naps during the day to improve their sleep quality in the middle and late stages of their flights, and this is what the ISS was more likely to do. There are also countermeasures to reduce sleep deprivation through medical reinforcements and caffeine intake, which are among the necessary measures to counteract the challenge of sleep loss and disruption of the biological clock.
